The Daily Star reports that plasterers Roy and Barry had taken on a job at a house in Birkenhead with electrician John back in 1984 when the spooky incident took place, according to writer Tom Slemen.

Barry had been uneasy about the job as he and Roy thought they had spotted asbestos in the house and was not convinced that the masks they had brought along would be sufficient to protect them.

Roy had dismissed his concerns but Barry was not convinced by his reassurances, and the pair began to get heated over the problem, with John interfering to calm them down.

The argument culminated in the cautious Barry saying: "I don't want to be here".

At that moment the three claim that they found themselves no longer in the house, but at a shopping precinct some two miles away with seemingly no warning.

Adding to the mystery, John claimed that he had seen a mysterious blue light forming around himself and the two plasterers before all three found themselves in a completely new location.

They claim that dozens of people witnessed them appearing seemingly out of thin air.

Confused, John began asking where he was while Roy and Barry were left staring at each other in disbelief while shocked shoppers gawped at them like they were ghosts.

Roy had subsequently had to finish the plastering job by himself as Barry had flat out refused to go back into the house.

He still had his concerns about the asbestos but added to that was his belief that the house was haunted or had paranormal phenomena connected to it in some way.

The story re-emerged when the pair, who reconciled after their fall out, spoke to psychic Tom Slemen on BBC Radio Merseyside's Billy Butler Show.
