Naturist Robert Jenner has received another jail sentence after collecting his phone at Maidstone Police Station wearing see-through trousers, Kent Online has reported. The 49-year-old, dubbed the 'naked carpenter', was convicted of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order which happened within hours of being released from jail. Ex-soldier Jenner, formerly of Bingley Close, Snodland, had claimed during his trial at Maidstone Crown Court that he was allowed to go commando because he is protected under the Human Rights Act. But a jury took minutes to see through the delivery driver's defence and convicted him. Now Judge Charles Macdonald QC has passed a one-year jail sentence, telling him that he had showed "a contempt for the court and the law". Jenner, wearing a black T-shirt and grey pants, did not speak during the 25-minute hearing. Prosecutor William Snedden had told the hearing that Jenner had been "brazen". Jenner's barrister Niall Doherty said: "He is a naturist and often goes to naturist beaches in France, Marbella and the Isle of Sheppey, including swimming. "He doesn't regret anything, but he is thoroughly sick of prison. "He still believes the top he had been wearing in the police station covered his genital area." Doherty added that Jenner's behaviour had not been "sinister, puerile or sexual". But Judge Macdonald said the order, imposed on March 14, 2019, had been the result of persistent criminal behaviour. At the earlier trial, the jury had heard how the incident happened on the day he was released from prison for a large number of offences for exposure. The prosecutor said: "He left prison, went to the police station to make enquiries about a mobile telephone, wearing clothes he hadn't been wearing when he had left prison." It is the second time Jenner had breached the CBO which required him to wear two layers of clothes to "prevent him from exposing his genitalia". Jenner attempted to get around the order by wearing see through pants and a mesh thong - which were shown to the jury. As he walked into the police station a detective, DC Melanie Bolt, was summoned and thought she could see Jenner's crown jewels. But because she wasn't wearing her glasses, she called on PC Homam Al-Sinawi to confirm what she thought she could see. The order was imposed in 2019 at Canterbury Crown Court when Jenner admitted he didn't wear underpants while working as a delivery driver, beneath his jeans and had a hole cut in the crotch. He said that after his time with the territorial and regular armies, including a tour of duty in Iraq, he became a carpenter. Jenner was asked: "Do you consider yourself to be a naturist?" He replied: "Yes, to me naturism means being open.” As Jenner has been on remand since the incident, it is believed he will be released immediately from custody but is still subject to the prohibition.
