A US man has gone viral after a video of him building a DIY swimming pool made of wooden pallets in his backyard has received more than 59 million views and counting. Using 14 wooden pallets made of either oak or walnut, a plastic sheet, a blue tarpaulin and 3000 gallons of water, the DIY enthusiast managed to build the pool in just over 12 hours at a cost of only £108 ($140). The couple from Tennessee, whose TikTok profile @organizedhomeandlife outlines that they are a ‘Husband and wife team. Organisation hacks and DIY projects’, faced plenty of backlash online with people doubting the project would work or last. Despite the negativity, the couple claim that a month after building the DIY pool it is still working great and they’ve even had a few pool parties to celebrate the feat. Stay tuned for the reveal. #diy #diyproject #pallet #insaneidea #summervibes #poolcleaning Speaking to Jam Press, wife Kayla said “The process wasn’t too time-consuming as Caleb managed to finish his project in 12 hours spread over one week.” "He used 14 pallets and he made sure to find ones that were made out of oak or walnut so that they would be stronger. The pine pallets are more brittle.” "He used supports to connect all the pallets, essentially making walls, and he then took hurricane straps which are flexible but extremely strong bands of metal and strapped them across the corners.” The pool at night. I helped him get the tarp in and I researched what filter system and chemicals we should use. She added: "We go swimming in it almost every day and have had several pool parties. Not only has the pool been a success but it has dramatically impacted the followers on their page, from about 400-ish pre-pool to now boasting more than 273,000 people.
