Rebekah the Ghost Guide is not only acquainted well with the after-life – she is also a social media sensation. The Daily Start reports that living in the 'most haunted' city in southern US (Wilmington, North Carolina), the 31-year-old often documents the spooky goings on for her 859,000 TikTok followers. But, it seems that humans are not the only ones who are intrigued with keeping up with the times and advancements in technology. According to Rebekah, there are plenty of 'woke' ghosts. And, they love to see how the world has panned out – despite their demise a long time ago. 'Woke' ghosts enjoy watching time go by and love to witness the development of society, even if they are not too fond of it. The Ghost Guide and Medium told Daily Star: "If they [ghosts] are present enough to be able to stay focused on our present rather than the present they knew from their life, they can watch and learn and adapt. “I love to be surprised and it's not always that I am, but wow when I meet a random ‘woke’ ghost from the 1800s that's hanging out to watch how modern times place out, I love that. “For those who are willing to share their stories I like to hear about what a day-in-the-life looked like. "From there it turns into a personal history project. I love diving into local archives and talking with historians to see how my perception of the conversation with them lined up. "I feel like a historical investigator sometimes!" Since her initial experience of meeting a 'woke' ghost, Rebekah has come across plenty more 'tuned in' spirits. “I've met more than a few now", she admitted. “Rupert, for example, loves modern plumbing and how clean people are. "He also hates how much we're looking into our phones instead of looking up and around." But it's not all hatred of technology and fondness for pipes. Rebekah added: “Jimothy, as another example, loves Marvel movies – Captain America and Black Panther being his favourites. “Adam, another spiritual friend of mine from the mid-1700s, enjoys modern fashion and historical TV dramas and comedies. BBC's Ghosts is a favourite too. “I see plenty around here [Wilmington]. Not as many as the residual spirits who may be a bit more connected to their time, but they are around. “There are all kinds of spirits around.” Through seeing ghosts on a daily basis, Rebekah sees them as if they are her 'neighbours'.
