A 13-year-old girl from Australia has pocketed a staggering AU$20,000 (£16,000) after she opened up a packet of Doritos crisps and found a rare ‘puffy’ mega-crisp inside. Rylee Stuart, from Queensland, Australia, made the discovery last week and while most of us would’ve probably just eaten it immediately, being from the younger generation she put a video out on her TikTok asking her followers if they thought it was valuable or if she should just eat it. What a good decision that was as after the video went viral, Doritos got in touch with the 13-year-old and offered to pay her $20,000 for it! The video has been viewed more than 11 million times, with the original caption reading “I found a puff Dorito! Is this valuable or should I just eat it? Tell me please”. The post was flooded with comments, with many suggestion she put the rare find up on eBay as unique food finds like this can sometimes earn ridiculous amounts of cash. In a listing that has now been removed, the teenager originally uploaded the crisp to eBay, where she received a bid for $10,000. In a statement from Doritos, Chief Marketing Officer Vandita Pandey said “It's been a whirlwind couple of days for Rylee and her family and we've loved following her story”. "We've been so impressed with Rylee's boldness and entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to make sure the Stuart family were rewarded for their creativity and love for Doritos.” Speaking to 9News, Rylee said “"I saw $10,000 (on the listing), and I like screamed. Dad is saying that since he bought the packet, it's his chop, but I ate the packet and found it, so I believe it is mine.” Rare food can earn the finder a fortune of cash on occasions, with a recent auction in the USA earning a bloke who found a chicken nudge shaped like a character from a video game selling for US$136,050.
