John Roberts is joined by Alex and Will Pettitt from Topoforma Landscape to learn their success story and what makes them award-winning landscapers. Southampton-based 28-year-olds Alex and Will have been running their business for the past four years and in that time, they've managed to nab a gold at the Chelsea Flower Show and several other individual awards. Alex shares that they've always loved gardening, horticulture and building things. During COVID-19 they lost their respective jobs and when a tornado hit Southampton taking out sheds and wrecking gardens, the pair decided to try their hands at landscaping. Now they work across three areas - domestic, commercial and the NHS. "We provide a lot of gardens for the NHS facilities," Alex notes. "We also have a keen interest in being environmentally friendly and ecologically minded," he says. Further, they discussed their awards and wins. Being able to participate in the biggest flower show in the world and win gold at the first attempt is something the brothers truly cherish. "It's the most pressure I've had so far," Will reveals. Alex also won a silver in the Young Designer Gardens for Slow Down, Deep Breathe. His project is designed to provide a space for staff of an NHS specialist hospital to find sanctuary from the stress of daily work. Listen to the podcast here.
