Personal health, diet, and fitness are not always a priority in a tradesperson's life, especially with electricians who work long hours and aren't able to fit working out into their schedules. On today's show, Thomas Nagy and regular guest Paul Meenan are joined by Max a personal trainer to understand why tradespeople need to focus on their health. With tradespeople already doing a very physical job, Thomas questions why physical exercise is needed. "It comes down to a lot of reasons, the biggest one is injury prevention. As a tradesman, you're constantly using your joints, bones and muscles to pick things up," says Max. "You want to ensure you don't harm yourself over time. If you do, it can be detrimental to your job. Other reasons are getting into better shape and mental benefits," he adds. Thomas notes that since he's been hitting the gym, he is far less "irritable" during the day. "Without a doubt, I'm much calmer and more chilled out at work." Max reveals that because all the anger and energy is channelled into the gym. He also notes that it's important to have a goal when you hit the gym. "You should look to build some muscle and lose some fat and get a bit stronger." For tradespeople hitting 50 years of age, Max recommends strength training. "It allows the joints to stay malleable."
