Jack, from Aughnacloy, recently received the Trainee/Apprenticeship Learner of the Year award at the prestigious OCN NI Learning Endeavour Awards 2024, according to The Impartial Reporter. The awards ceremony took place at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast, celebrating the remarkable achievements of learners from across Northern Ireland. The OCN NI Learning Endeavour Awards, now in their sixth year, recognise the extraordinary dedication and achievements of learners, teachers, and tutors. In a gathering of more than 350 attendees, including learners, educators, and distinguished guests, the awards highlighted the exceptional progress and accomplishments of individuals who have navigated significant personal challenges to excel in their education. A total of £16,000 in learning bursaries was awarded to both learners and providers across the province, including SWC apprentice Jack, who completed his Level 2 Joinery, advancing to Level 3 Joinery, as an apprentice. Jack’s achievements in this new award category for 2024, Traineeship/Apprenticeship Learner of the Year, were recognised with a Highly Commended accolade, sharing the honour with fellow nominee Tom Brett.
