Bradford-based M&E specialist H Mitton has been placed into administration with 160 staff made redundant, according to Construction Enquirer. Administrators Bob Maxwell and Julian Pitts from Begbies Traynor’s Leeds Office are now running the business. The firms included are H. Mitton, Mitton Mechanical Services, Mitton Electrical Services, and Mitton Aftercare. The failure follows the loss of the main customer Morrisons supermarket earlier this year. Directors filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators two weeks ago to hold creditors at bay while they sought to save the business through a sale. It is understood workers were not paid on Friday as hoped. Many have taken to the internet looking for work after being told on Monday the firm was being placed into administration. According to H Mitton’s latest accounts, it made a pre-tax profit of £583,546 in the year to January 2022 after turnover fell by 9 per cent to £33.7m.
