Joel Bardall and Todd Von Joel are joined by David Baines from Johnstone's Paint, and Kevin O'Donnell from Crown Paints to discuss the best ways of reducing the environmental impact of washing brushes and rollers. Colin Bidwell from Paintshack also joins the show to talk about Clean Water Global, a water treatment system. David and Kevin answer questions on how brushes and rollers should be cleaned and how the wastewater should be disposed of without harming the environment. "Scrap off as much paint of your bushes and rollers as possible before you put them in any water to wash them," said Baines. "It is advisable to wash them in a container rather than rinse them under the tap. The wastewater can then be hardened with sand, sawdust or clay to harden it before getting it into the garbage," he added. Colin talks about Clean Water Global (CWG) which has been designed to reduce the environmental impact of cleaning paintbrushes and rollers. "CWG collects wastewater from cleaning brushes and rollers which is then purified and then disposed of. This is currently being done in Belgium and the Netherlands. We're anticipating our first collection point will come to the UK in the next two months," said Colin. Listen to the podcast here.
