Jamie Shaul made no secret of his desire to return to bricklaying after retiring from rugby league, according to Hull Daily Mail. After all, the former Hull FC star was a bricklayer before he joined the club's old Under-20s system in 2012, and it's the trade he's gone back into after leaving the club at the end of last season. The 31-year-old is currently building homes in Beverley. He gained his bricklaying qualification as a teenager and has now taken a job with national homebuilder Bellway Homes. Enjoying the day-to-day life of a normal job, Shaul is at peace after his career in professional rugby league, with his name forever etched into history after scoring the winning try in Hull's 2016 Challenge Cup final victory over Warrington Wolves. Doing his job and ready to watch the Black and Whites as a fan again, he's more than content with the next step of his life. The former full-back also suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), with bricklaying the perfect trade to keep his mind occupied with a like-minded group of lads. “I already knew the trade as I qualify for it," Shaul said. "When I saw Bellway had a job opening, it was a no-brainer to take it. “The brutal banter is similar to what you have with the rugby lads, and you’re a cog in a bigger team because you all have to be on the same page when building a home.”
