Fix Radio has overhauled its news and sports coverage with a partnership deal with Independent Radio News (IRN) and Sky News. From mid-November the Builders Station switched to the IRN/Sky news service, for its hourly news and sports bulletins. “We’re constantly assessing the needs of our trade audience and looking for ways to improve the station,” said Fix Radio’s head of station, Sean Coleman. “Signing with IRN and Sky was a no-brainer – they are a market leader,” he added. In particular, the syndication agreement helps Fix Radio vastly improve its sports coverage. Under the terms of the deal, Fix Radio has greater access to Sky Sports network and is able to update its sports bulletins, seven days a week. “Given our audience of tradespeople, having the best possible sports coverage was hugely important for us, especially with the FIFA World Cup starting this month,” said Coleman. “Sports is a constant topic of conversation for tradespeople on-site, in the van and when they’re out with their mates,” he added.
