IET and BSI issued Amendment 3:2024 of BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations on 31 July, Electrical Times reported. In addition, they announced that a Draft for Public Consultation (DPC) on Amendment 4:2026 will be available from 7 August 2024. NICEIC technical director Paul Collins commented: “This change introduces a new regulation (530.3.201) for using bidirectional and unidirectional devices and two new definitions. “To ensure compliance, all NICEIC-certified businesses are required to download a free copy of Amendment 3:2024 from the BSI, IET or the NICEIC website and keep it with a copy of the BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 IET Wiring Regulations.” The IET and BSI will shortly publish a DPC seeking views on a proposed update expected to be effective in 2026. This update has a broader scope than Amendment 3:2024. In a statement, the IET and BSI confirmed that Amendment 4:2026 will incorporate changes to harmonised standards at a European level, which the UK must adopt within a specific timeframe.
