CITB and the Plant Sector Representative Organisation (psro) are jointly organising a series of events to promote training and competency for plant occupations. The forums, specifically for CITB-registered employers, will discuss how proper and adequate training supports industry competency requirements for ensuring a safe and efficient sector. Employers will have the opportunity to discuss training and competency requirements in the plant sector, including the benefits of attaining a fully trained and competent workforce.
The PSRO was created as a partnership of seven of the leading construction-based federations involved in plant operations to act as the industry voice for skills-based standards and certification requirements.
They are Build UK, Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA), Federation Piling Specialists (FPS), Home Builders Federation (HBF), National Federation Demolition Contractors (NFDC), and Scottish Plant Owners Association (SPOA).
CITB and the PSRO have been working closely to introduce short-course training standards for plant categories that reflect the increased requirements and responsibilities for plant operators. These will be among the main discussion topics.
Events will discuss the role of CITB as a standard-setting body and the role of PSRO concerning card schemes. They will also focus on:
