A single mum from Birmingham has been named Britain's best plasterer after leaving her desk job to pursue a career in the trade, Birmingham Mail reported. From Sutton Coldfield, Dee Prosser quit an unfulfilling role in her 30s. Now, she champions women working in trades through social media, inspiring others by sharing expertise and demonstrating that success is achievable, regardless of age or background. The Midlands-based tradeswoman, who owns Politely Plastered, was crowned Plasterer of the Year at an awards event on Thursday, November 21. Judges at the On The Tools Awards 2024 said: “Dee’s innovative and engaging social content reflects her passion and support for the plastering community.” The spread, with over 6,000 followers on her Instagram channel, claimed the top spot in a ceremony celebrating and recognising "exceptional talent" in the UK construction sector.
