Nearly half of young tradespeople say that social media inspired them to join the industry. The global survey compiled by Dewalt and World Skills International, also states that 75% of young tradies intended to use social media to raise the visibility of their trade. Worryingly, over 40% of those polled reported a “persistent social stigma” surrounding a career in the trades as a major obstacle and over a third said they’d never had support from their parents to become tradespeople. --- The government is set to investigate claims of radiator fraud that is costing UK consumers billions of pounds. The Office for Product Safety and Standards will review statements made by Rob Nezard, MD of UKRadiators.com that the heat output claims of several radiators had been overstated by as much as a third by manufacturers. Nezard said “The unfortunate truth is that there are millions of radiators sold every year that have not been tested, and the heat outputs being advertised are overstated.” --- A plumber from Harrogate has started packing a defibrillator in his van after a customer collapsed in front of him while at work. Henry Ogden, who runs PAX Plumbing & Heating, decided he had to be better prepared in case something similar happened again.
