AUDIO NEWS: UK needs to fit 3 million heat pumps and builders banned from listening to the radio

Posted: Thursday, July 11th, 2024

The UK needs to install another 3 million heat pumps in the next five years if it’s to hit its climate change targets, claims a report from Nesta.

According to the charity, the country has only managed to fit about a quarter of million heat pumps since 2020.

There are an estimated 25.5 million homes in the UK which are still dependent on gas or oil boiler central heating systems.

Home heating is responsible for 14% of the UK’s carbon emissions.

The Labour government now must manage a twelvefold increase in installations if it is to meet the country’s emissions targets.

Tradespeople have been banned from listening to the radio while converting an old nightclub into several flats.

Planning permission was granted on the property in Grimsby, but councillors imposed the unusual condition because the building backs on to the local Crown Court.

HM Courts and Tribunals Service initially objected to the project because part of the building overlooks the court precinct.

And finally, a Bolton decorator has appeared in a Lewis Capaldi’s music video.

Ashley Woodcock appeared in the video for ‘A Cure for Minds Unwell’, alongside other tradespeople associated with Rebuilding Lives UK, a charity that decorates the homes of domestic abuse survivors

Woodcock also worked on episodes of DIY SOS and the second season of Changing Rooms.
