Tradespeople are being urged to reinforce their online security, after research showed that nearly a quarter of tradies had been affected by a cyber-attack in 2023. The survey from NFU Mutual, revealed that seven in 10 tradespeople were worried about cybercrime. Over a third of respondents admitted to being very concerned about the situation. James Trevis, NFU Mutual’s cyber specialist said: “cybercrime is becoming an ever-increasing threat to our industries – and tradespeople are no different.” Earlier this week, tradespeople were warned to be on the lookout for a widespread phishing scam. --- Insurance premiums on vans have leapt by nearly a quarter in the last year, claims research published last week. The Consumer Intelligence Van Insurance Price Index said that van drivers of all ages faced price increases on van insurance premiums. Van operators with young drivers were among the hardest hit, with just 28.5% of under 25-year-olds, able to obtain quotes for less than £1,500 a year. The index estimates that most insurance premiums fell between £750 and £999 for the year. --- An electrician from Poole has been left unable to work after thousands of pounds of tools were taken from his van. Simon Blackmore’s van was raided overnight and most of his tools taken.
