The UK needs a long-term plan to solve the skills crisis, claims the Federation of Master Builders.

Towards the end of July, the government unveiled Skills England – an initiative to tackle the shortage of construction workers. However, details of the programme remain limited.

Brian Berry, chief executive of the trade body warned that the government’s plan to get ‘Britain building again’, “can only be achieved if the skills crisis is tackled.”

The FMB estimates over 240,000 skilled workers are needed in the next four years to deliver the government’s ambitious building plans.
