Posted: Friday, October 11th, 2024

A plasterer helped save children from an overturned double-decker bus in Northern Ireland this week.

Gary Smyth and his colleagues were travelling behind the bus before it crashed into a field 30 miles outside Belfast.

Smyth and his unnamed workmate were one of the first on the scene and helped children out of the wreck, after they’d smashed the windscreen tools from the van.

Smyth told the local radio station, the field looked like “something out of a movie”.

Although no fatalities were reported, several people were seriously injured.
