AUDIO NEWS: Industry sleepwalking towards another Grenfell and police in Dorset pursue tool thieves

Posted: Wednesday, November 6th, 2024

The construction sector is “sleepwalking” towards another Grenfell tragedy due to its culture of silence – that’s according to the head of the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

Amit Oberoi, executive chairman of the non-profit trade body, warned that frontline construction staff were being deterred from speaking out about dangerous or sub-optimal materials.

Oberoi told Building magazine that every week since the Grenfell Part 2 report was published in September, they’d been approached by workers saying they were concerned and even frightened about the poor quality of materials they’re being asked to use.
