AUDIO NEWS: Government urged do more to push down heat pump costs and builder is stranded for 6 hours

Posted: Friday, November 8th, 2024

The government must do more to reduce the cost of heat pumps, claims research from consumer website Which?

The site’s annual sustainability tracker found that 71% of homeowners who knew about heat pumps thought they were too expensive.

The figure has remained static despite an increase in government subsidies to encourage people to adopt heat pumps.

The report claims only 2% of homeowners have a heat pump, while just over half said they were aware of what they are.

Sue Davies, Which, head of consumer rights, and food policy said: “It’s clear there is work to be done to address the barriers preventing consumers from switching to the more sustainable alternatives.”

51-year-old Andrew Clifford was eventually found by a delivery driver.

Clifford had been working alone installing first-floor joists on a housing job in Derbyshire, when the accident occurred.

The contractor, Paul Freeman Ltd has since been prosecuted by HSE.
