AUDIO NEWS: Electrical businesses expecting project delays and a cheap festive period at the petrol pump

Over two thirds of electrotechnical and engineering services business are concerned over project delays and its impact on cashflow – that according to a quarterly industry report. 

The survey put together by the ECA and the BESA found that nearly a quarter of respondents expect their business’ performance to deteriorate before the end of the year. 

ECA director of legal and business, Rob Driscoll warned that 2025 “may see a big impact from delays on projects". 

He also urged SME firms to prepare for “cashflow turbulence” ahead.

A roofing firm has been fined and its director handed a suspended prison sentence after an HSE investigation caught employees on the roof at night, using the lights on their phones to carry out work

The investigation into Weather Master Roofing also found the firm was operating without scaffolding or edge protection on the house in Dorking.

Company director Jack Avanzo pleaded guilty and received a six-month suspended sentence.

And finally, this Christmas will be the cheapest at the petrol pump since the pandemic

Despite a small increase in the cost of petrol and diesel in November, prices are substantially cheaper than this time last year.

RAC head of policy Simon Williams said that while the current prices are better than last year, it could be improved “if retailer margins were lower”.
