Carpenters have topped a list of highest earning tradespeople. According to the report compiled by Clear Amber, chippies earn on average £832 a week, nearly a £100 week more than the second-place trade on the list, gas engineers. Scaffolders, electricians and window fitters made up the top five highest earning trades. Welders propped up the tail end of the list, making on average £496 per week. Clear Amber estimates that carpenters’ weekly wage is 23% higher than the UK’s weekly average pay. --- Wolverhampton is apparently the best place to start a renovation project – that’s according to research from flooring firm, Mr Sander. The study analysed average house price, planning approval rates, reviews of local tradespeople and the percentage of houses with renovation potential in the areas to produce its list. Sandwell, also in the West Midlands came second in the list, with County Durham third. Several boroughs in London all scored poorly on the list due to their high property prices, slow planning approvals and low renovation potential. --- And finally, an electrician has raised nearly £1,500 after completing a 55-mile ultra-marathon. Leon Barnes became just the 49th person ever, and the seventh fastest, to complete the Bay Limestone Round run.
