Screwfix has invested a £1 million to expand its tools and materials refurbishment programme. The retailer has set up a dedicated workshop and distribution site where taps, showers and pressure washers are inspected and tested before re-sale or recycling. Since 2021, Screwfix’s product refurb programme has given over 400,000 tools and parts a new lease of life. Matt Compton, Screwfix commercial director, said the programme was good for customers because it made “cheaper products available with a 1-year guarantee”, and reduced waste. --- Aston Villa Football Club has unveiled plans to boost the seating capacity of its North Stand to over 50,000. The work is due to be completed by the second half of 2027 ahead of the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament, when Villa Park will be a host venue. A complete rebuild of the stand was proposed three years ago, but revised plans will now adapt the existing structure for the expansion. --- A Belfast-born plumber is to sail around the world as part of one of the toughest endurance challenges known to man. 60-year-old Bob Brown is one of the crew members taking part in the 2025/26 Clipper Race – a 40,000-mile race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht.
