Stephen Blair, Sam Blakeney, and Tim Balcon discuss the importance of mental health with Andy Cam and Todd Glister on The Heating & Plumbing Show. Stephen Blair from Men Talk says people who suffer from mental health issues can hide it very well. "The clues are in the behaviour and appearance. When you strike up a conversation with them you can learn if they're feeling low and depressed." Todd asked how to broach the subject without seeming unusual. "Build up trust by just talking and breaking that stigma by creating a bond with them," Stephen advises. For fellow installer Sam Blakeney from NippyChecks his experience with mental health has been a "long haul road". Money was his biggest trigger, he reveals. Today, he feels more at peace as he's learned how to deal with mental health by talking about it and coping better. Tim Balcon, chief of CITB says that his experience with mental health is "long and varied". "The first step towards recovery is to recognise it because when you put it off and don't think it's happening, it gets worse," he adds. To listen to the show, click below.
