Charlie Mullins, the UK’s richest plumber is looking to sell his £12 million London penthouse as he prepares to quit the UK, before the Labour government can raise his taxes. Mullins who sold his business Pimlico Plumbers in 2021 for £145 million plans to divest all his UK assets and shift the money to investments in Spain and Dubai. Despite his exit plans, Mullins still intends to launch WeFix, a new London-based plumbing business branded “the Harrods of the handyman world.” --- Select has joined the growing chorus of trade bodies calling for greater industry regulation in the wake of the Grenfell tragedy. The managing director of the trade association Alan Wilson endorsed the idea of an industry-wide regulator that was recommended by inquiry chair Sir Martin Moore-Bick Wilson added: “We have been calling for similar measures for more than a decade but despite significant cross-party support, our pleas have so far fallen on deaf ears.” --- Brick deliveries, a useful indicator of the number house building starts, leapt by nearly 20% in July compared to the previous month. A rise in deliveries and house starts was expected as housing market sentiment picked up following a slight fall in mortgage rates since Spring.
